In her youth, Trena Taylor Brown has always had an eye for color and crafts. Always creative, she attended children’s workshops at the Baltimore Museum of Art, and began making jewelry on a small kiln at home. This artistic trait continued as she worked her way through college, doing high-fashion modeling that not only provided spending money, but complemented her love for art and design.
After receiving a graduate degree, Trena worked for IBM and AT&T, and during the course of her long corporate career, she maintained her interest in the arts. Retirement in 2003 offered Trena the opportunity to return to her passion, and she began designing jewelry for herself as a hobby, visiting bead markets as she traveled the world.
Several years ago, she was diagnosed with melanoma, and after a toe amputation and metastases to her lungs, she decided to view her gift of continued life as a re-birth, and used the opportunity to start a new career designing jewelry for the chic and confident woman.
Trena’s wearable art designs incorporate many of the semi-precious stones, pearls, and beads she has collected in her travels. She enjoys personally designing and hand-crafting each exquisite one-of-a-kind piece.
